I made a birthday cake for Erik’s birthday last weekend. It required a lot of sifted powdered sugar.

Making cake from scratch is really the only way to do it, in my opinion. It’s often a long painstaking process, but it’s one of those things I like to do (if I have time). Erik’s favorite two flavors in the world are peanut butter and chocolate, so the menu chose itself.

I didn’t have to decorate it for anyone to see but us, so I chose something simple and quick. The cake was incredible.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake

(I didn’t put peanut butter in the ganache- I thought it’d be too peanut-buttery, and I’m happy I omitted it.)

After we ate, I made him hold up The Ruth, and pose.
